It’s really hot today, and I was looking for photographs of ice cream in my archives. I stumbled upon some photos of an ice cream cake from Ici in Berkeley, and wanted to post some cake pictures instead.
The first four images were of a Hummingbird Cake with pineapple flowers made by Liz for Katie’s birthday. The recipe came from Axis of Ævil. Liz thought the flowers didn’t look ideal, but I thought they were great as the brown edges gave a more interesting color variation. The cake tasted wonderful — I’m not usually a big fan of frosting, but I was in love with the creamy and subtle sweetness of this cream cheese frosting.
