The Perfect Chocolate Milkshake

Getting my wisdom teeth pulled out wasn’t such a horrible thing. I indulged myself in soft foods I normally would only eat occasionally, including milkshakes.

Normally, Keith and I would just arbitrarily add some ice cream and milk into the blender, and hope for the best. But this time, we did a bit of research and found a good ratio of ice cream to milk. Also, we put in a banana for added richness. To top it off, we made fresh almond whipped cream, and dark chocolate shavings. That was perfection, except that I could have had more!

(Makes 2 shakes)

  • 1 ripe banana, sliced
  • 1 1/2 cups chocolate ice cream (we got ours from Fenton’s)
  • 1/2 cup milk

Toppings:

  • 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
  • 70% bittersweet chocolate, grated

In a blender, add the sliced banana and ice cream, then pour in the milk. Blend until mixed.

In a medium bowl, mix the heavy cream, sugar, and almond extract using an electric mixer, until the cream is light and fluffy.

Pour the milkshake into serving glasses, spoon in the whipped cream, and add the chocolate shavings. Voilà!
