I stumbled upon a refreshing stock photo company, Citizen Stock, and thought I should share a few images from their Cameo Silos series.

Isn’t it amazing how much meaning a silhouette can convey?

There are many aspects of Citizen Stock that I really love. The photographers Sherrie Nickol and David Katzenstein use real everyday people as their subjects rather than models. With the subjects photographed against only a white background, their images have a wonderful minimalistic aesthetic.

And all you graphic designers out there will appreciate this… The original off-camera shots look like the top image here, a partial silhouette with a little bit of detail showing through. But clients are also provided with the full silhouette embedded with a path for vector work! Cool, huh? Citizen Stock is stock photography done right.

These are everday people? What a cool idea. I love these silhouettes, especially that you can see some of the person in the picture, and that it isn’t just a black/white contrast.
