Lifestyle Photography for Grana

New warehouse for Grana in Wong Chuk Hang

My how time flies! I can’t believe my last blog post on a wedding at Hullett House was back in February. The past 8 months have been plenty busy, with some short trips within Asia and a couple epic trips around Europe, and working with some new photography clients to produce their website and social media visual content. One such client is the fashion e-commerce startup Grana.

The company just turned 2 and secured a new round of funding for $10 million USD, and it has been a wonderful journey to see them grow! When I was first commissioned, they were a small team of 10+ people, and now have outgrown their previous office in Wong Chuk Hang and just moved to a sweet new spot nearby.

Architecture & Portrait Photography at Hong Kong Design Schools

Hong Kong Editorial Photographer, Tracy Wong

What a pleasure to work with Home Journal again for their June issue. This time I got a chance to photograph the amazing architecture and interiors of four schools throughout Hong Kong that offer design courses, and got to meet some key instructors and students from these programs. Go pick up a copy of the magazine and check out the “Next Generation” article!

Photographing Hong Kong’s Heritage Architecture

Hong Kong Home Journal Magazine April 2015, Living History

On an assignment for design and lifestyle magazine Home Journal, I photographed various restored heritage buildings in Hong Kong for the “Living History” report.

I went from the Pawn in Wan Chai, to “tong lau” buildings in Sheung Wan, to the colonial Tai O Heritage Hotel, capturing buildings originally meant for different purposes, all now preserved and providing contrast to towering skyscrapers. As the photographer, I focused on getting exterior building shots, architecture details, and candid photos of people interacting in the space to give context and mood.

Fashion & Food Photoshoot with Little Laws • PMQ 元創方

Fashion Photoshoot with Little Laws • At PMQ, Hong Kong

I know I’ve been all about PMQ lately; my last blog post was about the Hermès exhibition there… but what really is this place with the mystical acronym? I went to find out more with London fashion and lifestyle blogger Little Laws.

PMQ stands for “Police Married Quarters”, as it used to house married police officers in the 1950s until 2000. After being left empty for a few years, the site reopened earlier this year as a new hub for creatives. The main structure and look of the apartment buildings were preserved, including the turquoise and white color scheme. I know that the location of PMQ makes the land a piece of prime real estate, and I’m glad that the non-profit organization behind it is giving priority for local brands and artists to establish themselves there.

We started off our visit with lunch at Isono Eatery & Bar, a restaurant serving dishes from Spain, Italy and France and has a glamorous industrial look to its interiors. We split a set menu of 2 starters, 1 main and a dessert and also started with a platter of Iberico Ham, Lomito and Salami. Yay for sharing! Also pictured here is the beef tartare with a Japanese egg yolk and truffle mayonnaise… so rich and delectable.
