Photography on Food Blog SkinnyTaste

Fresh ingredients • Food Photography by Tracy Wong

I looove shooting food photography, and I feel especially great after working on healthy recipes for nutritionist Heather K. Jones. Of course I couldn’t say no when she asked for food photos of her version of the Sunshine Bowl, featured on renowned blog SkinnyTaste.

The recipe was based on a fresh dish at one of her favorite Seattle food carts. Topped with a bright yellow sunshine sauce, the Sunshine Bowl was packed with fresh vegetables, grilled chicken, and quinoa, making it a filling and nourishing meal.

Architecture & Portrait Photography at Hong Kong Design Schools

Hong Kong Editorial Photographer, Tracy Wong

What a pleasure to work with Home Journal again for their June issue. This time I got a chance to photograph the amazing architecture and interiors of four schools throughout Hong Kong that offer design courses, and got to meet some key instructors and students from these programs. Go pick up a copy of the magazine and check out the “Next Generation” article!

Photographing Hong Kong’s Heritage Architecture

Hong Kong Home Journal Magazine April 2015, Living History

On an assignment for design and lifestyle magazine Home Journal, I photographed various restored heritage buildings in Hong Kong for the “Living History” report.

I went from the Pawn in Wan Chai, to “tong lau” buildings in Sheung Wan, to the colonial Tai O Heritage Hotel, capturing buildings originally meant for different purposes, all now preserved and providing contrast to towering skyscrapers. As the photographer, I focused on getting exterior building shots, architecture details, and candid photos of people interacting in the space to give context and mood.

Food Blog Photography at SkinnyTaste

Food photographer in Hong Kong

Part of the perks as a food photographer is that I get to taste some of the most delicious and beautiful dishes. This photography project I did with Dietician Heather K Jones is the perfect example. Heather is a long-time client of mine, and she reached out to me again when she was guest blogging on renowned healthy food blog Skinnytaste.

The dish I shot this time was an Asian-inspired salmon bowl with a recipe from Heather’s sister. The bright color of the salmon really popped in the photos! See more from this food photoshoot and a link to the recipe below the jump…
