Modern Jade Jewelry: TRACE

Rose gold jade rings for stacking by TRACE | minimal jewelry photography

The past few months have been a whirlwind! In addition to some secret projects happening in my photography life, in the past year I have also been busy at work on a new project – a jade jewelry brand, TRACE.

This new venture has opened my eyes in the world of jewelry… a world that I was actually brought up in, as my maternal grandfather founded our family jewelry business in the 1950s. It had brought me great pride to be part of this adventure, joined by my cousin and now co-founder.

Lifestyle Photography for Grana

New warehouse for Grana in Wong Chuk Hang

My how time flies! I can’t believe my last blog post on a wedding at Hullett House was back in February. The past 8 months have been plenty busy, with some short trips within Asia and a couple epic trips around Europe, and working with some new photography clients to produce their website and social media visual content. One such client is the fashion e-commerce startup Grana.

The company just turned 2 and secured a new round of funding for $10 million USD, and it has been a wonderful journey to see them grow! When I was first commissioned, they were a small team of 10+ people, and now have outgrown their previous office in Wong Chuk Hang and just moved to a sweet new spot nearby.

Product Photography for Hong Kong Beer Co.

Hong Kong Beer Company • Food product photography by Tracy Wong

Early bird catches the worm they say, but in my case, early birds (my intern Jeffrey and I) got to visit a brewing factory. Since the holiday seasons were coming up, I had been called upon by the Hong Kong Beer Co. to Christmas up their beer for some product photography. The aim was to spruce up their Facebook and Instagram content, and to have some photos on hand for general marketing. Yes, I know it’s wayyyy past Christmas by now but I love these so much I’d like to share these with you!

Launch Party Photos for REDDIE Pop-Up

Wide angle event shot at PMQ Hong Kong

You know it’s a fabulous party when people keep mingling when the venue shuts its lights on you. That was what happened at the launch party for REDDIE, a new furniture brand having a temporary pop-up store at PMQ for the month of October. Though their model is entirely online, it’s great that the pop-up allows Hong Kong shoppers to see the unique and colorful combinations available on the website!

I was commissioned by Caroline Olah, the founder and designer of REDDIE, to provide event photography for the launch party at PMQ. As per my usual style for capturing events, I caught some photos of the space before guests began to arrive, candid snapshots of people mingling, and portraits of the guests. The party was so packed we filled out the space inside and outside the shop, and even spilled out to the space next door!

The star of the show was Caroline’s son Eddie, who is the name sake of her company. He was such a great mascot for the brand at such a young age! See how he posed for the paparazzi at the party in the photos below.
