Maternity Portraits • Serena & Ian • San Francisco
This maternity portrait session was photographed back in May, and now Serena and Ian have an adorable baby boy! I can’t wait to meet their little guy, but first I’d love to share their sweet maternity photos.
I’ve known Serena for quite a few years, since the time I worked in a lab and before I became a photographer. She and Ian have an amazing, positive outlook towards life and people, and it’s hard not to love hanging out with them. This photoshoot was no exception.
We started off at Dolores Park, near where they lived in the Mission District in San Francisco. I always encourage my portrait clients to pick a location that has an emotional significance, and to Serena and Ian, Dolores Park was their stomping ground. It also provided a stunning view of the San Francisco skyline!
It was Serena’s brilliant idea of tying a blue ribbon around her pregnant belly as a prop for the maternity photos. What a great present they were bringing to this world!
After photographing the couple in the crowded Dolores Park, we got back to their cozy apartment and did some casual photos in their sunny living room. The cute little bear shoes were gifted by Serena’s best friend in Italy… how cute! I loved the intimate feeling of these living room portraits while showing off Serena’s belly.
I always say it’s important to capture the fleeting moments in life; this especially applies to pregnancies, when the belly is big only for a short amount of time! In this case, I love being able to witness Serena and Ian’s excitement when they were expecting their first child. Congratulations!
