Engagement Photography in Yosemite • Kara & Justin
I was so lucky to get to photograph Kara and Justin at the Evergreen Lodge area in Yosemite, California. The couple traveled from Texas and I from Hong Kong to California for a family wedding, so we seized the opportunity to have a sunset photoshoot out in the woods.
We took a recommendation from Evergreen Lodge to find a lake and meadow for the first location. We didn’t think we really found the spot described by the lodge staff, but we did stumble upon a secluded area filled with trees and a meadow nearby with horses grazing. I love the fiery sun glowing through the trees!
There were also two old barns on the drive towards the lodge, on Evergreen Road. We loved the rustic look and got some fabulous photos of the couple against the barn and in the grassy meadow, with cows there keeping us company. The sun was setting beautifully…
Kara and Justin must have been the most compliant engagement photography couple ever! Even Kara in her high heels would tread through uneven ground to help get the shots I envisioned. During the session, I would give them simple instructions on where to stand or sit, but let their own chemistry do the job. Aren’t they an adorable and beautiful couple?
I also made a little gif file of Justin and Kara in a fun sequence. We had some really good laughs having them run past the camera.
It’s not quite a “wedding cinemagraph”, but I’m definitely working my way towards one! Love the genuine happiness from this series of photos <3
It was great that we were able to enjoy the gorgeous scenery by ourselves during a busy wedding weekend. I can’t wait to see how they’ll use the engagement photos on their Save the Date announcements. Congratulations!
xoxo
P.S. I’d like to give a big shout out to our wonderful assistants, Kevin and Bonnie, who were the best siblings ever! They acted as our driver, mobile wardrobe, behind-the-scenes photographers, and time keepers. Thank you!
