Fashion & Food Photoshoot with Little Laws • PMQ 元創方

I know I’ve been all about PMQ lately; my last blog post was about the Hermès exhibition there… but what really is this place with the mystical acronym? I went to find out more with London fashion and lifestyle blogger Little Laws.

PMQ stands for “Police Married Quarters”, as it used to house married police officers in the 1950s until 2000. After being left empty for a few years, the site reopened earlier this year as a new hub for creatives. The main structure and look of the apartment buildings were preserved, including the turquoise and white color scheme. I know that the location of PMQ makes the land a piece of prime real estate, and I’m glad that the non-profit organization behind it is giving priority for local brands and artists to establish themselves there.

We started off our visit with lunch at Isono Eatery & Bar, a restaurant serving dishes from Spain, Italy and France and has a glamorous industrial look to its interiors. We split a set menu of 2 starters, 1 main and a dessert and also started with a platter of Iberico Ham, Lomito and Salami. Yay for sharing! Also pictured here is the beef tartare with a Japanese egg yolk and truffle mayonnaise… so rich and delectable.

We stuffed ourselves silly at lunch and went exploring different floors at PMQ with our full stomachs. It’s great to see local artists and brands featured and supported in this space, especially in a city that is getting increasingly corporate and globalized. Between the 2 buildings (Staunton and Hollywood), there are currently 6 floors of space converted from apartments into fashion boutiques, jewelry workshops, cafes, and even a cooking school.

You can read more details of our adventures at the excellent blog post on Little Laws. She really puts in a lot of heart into her blog posts, especially on giving background info on all the cultural spots she visits in London, Hong Kong, and everywhere else. I honestly don’t have that kind of discipline! 😛
